Stories of Corporate Culture

the Tortoise and the Hare
The story of the tortoise and the hare from Aesops Fables is widely known. Mr. Barry Lam, Chairman of Quanta Group, greatly admires  the “Tortoise Spirit” and  believes that Quanta personnel should be courteous and moderate just like the tortoise, advancing step by step. It is the spirit that stimulates the development of Quanta which comes from Linkou Taiwan to Songjiang Shanghai, then goes to Changshu, Jiangsu Province and now takes roots in Xiyong, Chongqing.

the Gazelle and the Lion
Every new colleague knows this inspiring story since it is printed on cards and distributed to them when they first join our company. As part of their orientation, the CEO leads them in reading the text aloud as a reminder of the story’s moral.
One basic point of Darwinian evolution is that the fittest survive while the weaker ones are weeded out in the struggle for life. Natural competition is brutal and the direct consequence of survival of the fittest may be the death of one party. That competition also exists in our work. We may stay secure in the life we currently have but the company  advances without cease. Those who cannot contribute to these advances may find more suitable employment elsewhere.  Only through continuous learning and keeping up with company’s growth can we become winners in this competitive environment.
Story: Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up and knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up and knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesnt matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up, you’d better start running.
